It’s been over four years since the tragic events of August 3, 2019, and I still find myself thinking about how much was taken from families like Leo Cimpeda Campos’s. My heart goes out to them as they continue navigating life without him. I read somewhere that Leo was very passionate about soccer and football during his high school days, and it just makes you think about all the experiences and simple joys that were stolen from him because of this senseless act. The fact that he moved to El Paso and built a life for himself there speaks volumes about his character and resilience.
It's important to keep these victims in our hearts and honor them by striving for the societal changes needed to prevent such horrors in the future. For those who knew Leo, I hope you take comfort in your memories and the mark he left on your lives. Please, if anyone has stories or memories of Leo to share, feel free to post them here. It’d be nice to keep his spirit alive by remembering who he was, not just what happened to him.
I was browsing through some old threads and remembered Leo Cimpeda Campos, who we lost in the El Paso shooting. While many aspects of the case have been discussed, I find myself thinking about the deep bond he shared with his old high school friends. I've read that he was a standout on the soccer and football teams at PSJA High School and kept in touch with teammates long after graduation. The stories they shared about Leo in the wake of his passing really highlight how much of a positive influence he was. It's those small, personal connections that really make the loss feel so profound for me. Sending love to his friends and family who continue to remember and celebrate Leo's life and legacy.
