Hi everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the impact of community involvement in cases like Demarco Dinti Bastain's. It's been nearly a decade, and it seems like there has been so little progress. What's really stuck with me is how crucial witness testimony can be in moving a case forward. Someone out there knows what happened that night in Downtown St. Louis.
I imagine it must be incredibly painful for Demarco's family and friends to have so many unanswered questions. They deserve to know the truth, and Demarco deserves justice. The problem is, people are often afraid to come forward with information that could potentially help solve crimes. Whether it's due to fear of retaliation or just not wanting to get involved, it's understandable, but also disheartening.
I read somewhere that collective action is often the key to bringing perpetrators to justice. If only someone with pertinent information would feel empowered to report it, even anonymously, it could make all the difference. I really hope that as a community, we can foster an environment where the truth can safely be told, and those responsible can be held accountable.
Thinking of Demarco’s loved ones and hoping for a breakthrough soon.
Take care,
