Just stumbled upon the case of Mary Leah Rodermund and the more I read, the more questions I have. Her story is haunting, especially concerning the ransom call her parents received. It's strange how the call ended without further instructions or evidence of any handover attempt. Was this a tactic by Hohenberger to toy with the family? Or could there have been someone else involved who wanted to cash in on her disappearance while keeping them off their trail? I wonder if anyone has ever looked into any potential accomplices Hohenberger might have had in Louisiana. There might be loose threads there that need pulling. What do you all think?
I recently came across Mary's case, and one part that really piqued my interest is the timing of the ransom call her parents received. It's odd that the call came the very next day after she disappeared. Did anyone else find it strange that no follow-up instructions were given? You’d think if someone went through the trouble of making a ransom demand, they’d at least have a plan to pick up the money, right? Given Hohenberger's involvement, it makes me wonder if this was more of an attempt to throw off investigators rather than an actual ransom situation. It’s so tragic that this phone call, which could’ve been a starting point for finding Mary, ended up not leading anywhere. If only there was a way to trace those calls back then like we can today.
I was digging into some old cases and came across the disappearance of Mary Leah Rodermund in '78. What really caught my attention was the ransom call her parents received. Does anyone else find it strange that there were no follow-up demands or instructions after that one call? If Hohenberger was responsible, as many suspect, why even bother with a ransom demand? Something about it feels off to me. Maybe there was someone else involved, or it was a diversion tactic. Would love to hear anyone else's thoughts or theories on this aspect of the case.
