I've been following the case of Bryan Rivera and my heart goes out to his family and friends. I can’t help but think about the impact this tragedy must have on those who were close to him, especially at such a young age. What's truly troubling is the potential for this incident to have been avoidable. I’ve seen discussions about how gun violence is becoming more prevalent among youths in certain areas, and this just brings it home. It makes me wonder about the role community programs are playing – or perhaps failing to play – in engaging our young people in positive ways. Given Bryan's age, it’s not hard to imagine he had dreams and aspirations that will now never be realized. I hope his community can come together to create something positive in his memory, perhaps a scholarship or initiative focused on helping other teenagers find safe and constructive outlets. If any locals have ideas or know of existing efforts, I'd love to hear about them. It’s important for us to ensure that something positive can come from such a senseless act.
