I’ve been following the case of Marisela Cadena, and something that stands out to me is the huge failure of the system in protecting her. It's gut-wrenching to think that just two days before she was killed, there was a warrant for Munoz's arrest for abduction. I can't help but wonder why there wasn't more urgency in apprehending him. It’s easy to sit here and armchair quarterback, but when lives are at stake, it feels like every minute counts. My heart goes out to Marisela’s family and those who loved her. It’s a stark reminder that we must push for better support and faster responses when victims of domestic violence reach out for help.
Hey everyone,
I've been following the Marisela Cadena case closely, and I can't stop thinking about the circumstances leading up to her tragic death. It's so incredibly frustrating to learn that law enforcement had already obtained a warrant for Andrew Munoz two days before the shooting but hadn't yet apprehended him. I know it's complicated with so many cases to handle, but it makes me wonder if things might have ended differently if he had been arrested earlier.
It’s clear that Marisela tried so hard to protect herself, going as far as getting a protective order. It's a grim reminder of how much we need to push for better support systems for domestic violence victims to ensure their safety. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones—they deserved to have her safe and sound, not living in fear until her last moments. What can we, as a community, do to ensure protective orders do more than just document abuse? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Stay safe, everyone.
