I came across Rene Cantu's case recently, and it's just so tragic to see how senseless violence can claim such a promising life. A detail that sticks with me is how Rene was just out doing something he loved—jogging through the Montrose area—completely oblivious to the danger lurking. It's deeply unsettling to think about the suddenness and randomness of such acts, and how they can shatter a community and family in an instant. Rene seemed like such a kind and quiet soul, someone who made a positive impact at the University of Houston, and this loss is felt far and wide. I can't imagine the pain his loved ones are feeling, especially when the case remains unsolved. If anyone knows anything, even the smallest detail could be key to bringing justice for Rene and peace to his family. Holding out hope that they get answers soon.
