It's deeply upsetting to read about Rafael Garcia's murder, knowing it happened during such a tumultuous period in Oakland's history. What really struck me is the immense pressure law enforcement must have been under back in 2012. It’s not just about solving one case; they were trying to navigate a whole sea of violence across the city!
I wonder if anyone else thinks about the human side of this—like how the officers must have felt stretched thin, working tirelessly yet knowing they couldn't keep up with the overwhelming wave of crime. It's easy to point fingers at the police for unsolved cases, but in that climate, it seems almost like an impossible task. Even with increased patrols and community policing efforts, it feels like they were fighting an uphill battle.
What do you all think could have been done differently back then, considering the difficult circumstances? Any insights or perspectives from those who lived through that era in Oakland would be valuable.
