I've been thinking about Danesha M. Barnes’s case and the impact it's had on her family. Losing a loved one to violence leaves a lasting scar, and my heart goes out to her daughters, Ternesha and Avianna, who have to grow up without their mom. I can't imagine the weight on them and on Danesha’s parents, Mary Lampley Haney and Douglas Barnes. It’s comforting to hear how cherished she was by her family and community, but that makes the sting of her unsolved case even harder to bear. The surveillance footage released by the police gives a tiny thread of hope that someone out there might recognize the vehicle and help bring some answers. Being a mom myself, I just can’t shake this feeling of injustice—how can this happen with no one held accountable? For anyone local to St. Louis or familiar with that area, did you notice anything unusual around Feb 14, 2016? Every little detail might help.
