I'm still trying to wrap my head around the tragic event that took both Kory Smith and Simieon Joseph from their families and friends. I can't even begin to imagine the pain their loved ones must be feeling right now. It’s so distressing how such a joyful gathering could end in such a senseless act of violence. I've been reflecting on the role that community support plays during times like these. Seeing how Fort Worth has come together to support the families shows just how powerful unity can be in the face of tragedy. We can't erase what happened, but by offering our support, we're helping those who knew and loved Kory and Simieon to rebuild some sense of normalcy. If there's one thing that we can take away, it's that we must remain vigilant and work collectively to address gun violence. My deepest condolences to both families—may they find solace in the love and support surrounding them.
