When I think about Nevaeh's love for butterflies, it makes me reflect on how such a small symbol can carry so much meaning. To me, butterflies are all about transformation and beauty, and I imagine that's how Nevaeh saw the world—with wonder and a heart full of kindness. It’s hard not to feel a profound sense of loss knowing she won’t be here to share that bright spirit with us anymore. I’ve read about how much she loved drawing and playing softball, and I can’t help but picture her with her sketchbook in hand, doodling carefree designs in her favorite colors, pink and purple. It’s little details like these that make the tragedy even more real—not just numbers, but children with lives and loves, dreams and families who cherished them. My heart goes out to her parents and siblings, as they navigate this unimaginable loss. May the community’s support bring them comfort in their time of need.

I came across a picture of Nevaeh with her siblings, and it just put so much into perspective for me. You could see the love and laughter they shared, and it’s unfathomable to think how that world was shattered for her family. I've been thinking a lot about how crucial it is for siblings to have each other, especially in tough times like this. Her brothers and sister must be facing unimaginable pain right now, and I sincerely hope they're getting the love and support they need from the community and beyond. It's so important for us to step up and support these children—whether it's through counseling, community events, or simply being there to listen. These kids, who've had their childhoods torn apart, deserve any source of light we can offer them. Whatever nuanced defects we find in systems, the emotional healing needs direct love and kindness. Sending love and strength to all the families and everyone in Uvalde. It should have never come to this. ?

I can't stop thinking about how Nevaeh’s love for butterflies symbolized her spirit perfectly—gentle and transformative. It's truly touching how her friends and family described her as someone who naturally uplifted people around her. Even at such a young age, she seemed to have a special way of making folks feel seen and valued. I genuinely hope that in the midst of their heartache, her loved ones find some comfort in knowing just how much of a positive impact she had on those fortunate enough to have known her. Her radiant spirit is undeniably missed, but it continues to inspire all of us to be a bit kinder every day. Sending strength and love to all affected by this tragedy. ??
