I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of community programs and how they might be missing the mark in preventing tragedies like what happened to Quarderious Jordan. It’s unsettling to hear that Khalin White, the suspect, had previously been part of a program designed to deter youth from committing crimes. It’s essential that these programs do more than just offer guidance; they need to truly engage and connect with young people on a deeper level. There’s so much potential there, but it’s clear there's a need for improvement. It’s daunting to consider what Quarderious’s family is going through, knowing that his alleged killer was someone who should have been on a different path. The community leaders like Pastor Jack Chatman have a tough road ahead, trying to patch up the systemic cracks that fail our youth. My heart goes out to Jordan’s friends and family, who are undoubtedly overwhelmed with questions and grief. I hope we can see real change and prevent future tragedies like this one. What do you all think should be done differently in these programs?
