Has anyone here spent much time at Doheny State Park around the time Claudia Mathieu went missing? I've been curious about the area's conditions back then. I know there were reports of windy weather, but was that common for December in the late '90s? Could weather patterns have been more severe than what's typical for Dana Point? I've read people mentioning the choppiness of the water as a possible issue. Just trying to get a sense of what Claudia might have faced out there—especially if she was an experienced kayaker or if it was a day anyone would have reconsidered going out due to rough conditions. Insights from locals or anyone familiar with that area during the winter would be super helpful!

I’ve always found it odd that Claudia, who seemed quite responsible, would leave her dog behind in the car. If she was such an avid kayaker, wouldn't she have had a plan for her dog? Most kayakers I know are pretty meticulous about preparing for trips, especially when conditions aren't ideal. Does anyone think there's a chance she decided to meet someone at the harbor and something unexpected happened? There were no signs of foul play, but it’s so bizarre that nothing of hers was recovered. It makes me wonder if there might be more to her plans that day that we just don’t know about. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
