It's beyond sad that Brian Dillard's life was taken in such a senseless act of violence. I was puzzled by the fact that Zeric Jackson, despite being on parole and under monitored conditions, could still make his way to commit such a crime. This incident makes me question how effective ankle monitors truly are. If Jackson's past could not be deterred by his monitoring, are we really keeping communities safe with this system? Losing a loved one is unimaginable, and my heart goes out to Brian's family and friends who are navigating such a devastating loss. We owe it to victims like Brian to reevaluate and strengthen our justice approach for the safety of our society.
