Hey everyone, I've been following Scott's case for a while, and something that's been bugging me is the discovery of his black duffel bag between Jet Lake and the trailhead. The fact that the float tube was missing from it seems really strange to me. If Scott intended to harm himself, why would he go through the trouble of bringing a float tube? It's such an odd item to prioritize taking if you're planning to disappear or worse. I mean, could it indicate he'd been planning to fish or maybe was planning something else entirely? I'm curious if anyone has theories or has seen similar circumstances in other cases. It just feels like there's a piece of the puzzle missing here, and I'm hoping we can brainstorm a bit to see if something clicks.
Has anyone else been following the disappearance of Scott from Grand Junction back in 2002? I was reading through some old articles and forums, and one thing that stood out to me was the discovery of the black duffel bag. Apparently, it was found on a trail near Jet Lake, a place he was known to enjoy for hunting. What's intriguing is that everything was still in the bag except for a float tube, like those used for fishing.
It seems like a small detail, but why would just the float tube be missing? Did Scott plan to use it for something specific, or could it have been simply misplaced or used by someone else in passing? Knowing that his pickup was abandoned in Flat Tops Wilderness Area, I can't help but wonder if he went to the lake for a particular reason. I think these little pieces might be crucial in piecing together what actually happened. Does anyone else have any theories or thoughts on the missing float tube angle?
Does anyone have info on the weather conditions around the Flat Tops Wilderness Area when Scott disappeared? I’m curious if poor weather could have contributed to the difficulty of the search efforts. I read that summer storms can be intense up there, and it makes me wonder if rain or fog might have obscured searcher visibility. If anyone has insight or was in the area around that time, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Every detail might help us understand more about what could have happened to him in such a vast and challenging environment.
