Has anyone here ever come across one of Margaret Swearengen's painted rocks in Memphis before the tragedy? I didn’t know her personally, but her story really hit home for me. Her unique way of spreading joy through art by leaving painted rocks around the city is just beautiful and speaks volumes about who she was—creative, thoughtful, and kind-hearted. I can't imagine what her family and friends must be going through right now. It’s so devastating to lose someone like her, especially in such a tragic way. I think it’s important we continue to remember her contributions to the community and support efforts to combat domestic violence. If anyone knows of any memorials or initiatives in her memory, please share.
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about Margaret Swearengen's case from back in 2017. It's been on my mind, especially considering how it highlighted the distressing trend of domestic violence cases in Memphis during that time. I still can't wrap my head around how someone with such a vibrant spirit, who brought joy to complete strangers through her beautiful, painted rocks, could meet such a tragic end.
Margaret’s art used to be a small beacon of hope, and I recall seeing people talk about finding her rocks scattered across the city. Those little pieces of art really brightened people's days. I wonder if any of you have ever found one of her rocks or knew someone who did? Seems like a unique way to leave a mark on the world, and it's just so sad that such a creative soul was lost to such violence. Keeping her family in my thoughts.
Would love to hear your thoughts or memories if you've got any to share.
I've been thinking a lot about the beautiful rocks Margaret Swearengen used to paint and leave around Memphis. It's just so sad that something so joyful and intentional—meant to brighten a stranger’s day—was overshadowed by such a tragic end. Does anyone from Memphis remember coming across one of her painted rocks? I feel like small acts like that have the power to create ripples of kindness in a community. It just makes me reflect on the hidden battles people might be facing. My thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time. What a talented soul she was.
