I've been thinking about the role mental health services could have played in preventing the tragedy involving Kenneth Adair and his family. It's truly baffling that Sean Ganey was released from the hospital after expressing suicidal thoughts, only to carry out such a devastating act just days later. How on earth did he manage to get hold of a gun so quickly? This raises so many questions about the current system and whether there are enough safeguards in place to prevent someone in a vulnerable mental state from obtaining a weapon. It's crucial that we examine how mental health evaluations are conducted and whether there should be more stringent monitoring. Maybe Sean's deteriorating mental state could have been caught sooner with better support structures in place. My thoughts are with Kenneth, Cassidy, and Shelly's friends and family. It's a small comfort to know the community is coming together to support Cassidy’s daughter, but we need to do more to prevent such tragedies from repeating. What do others think needs to change to ensure that people who are clearly in distress receive the help they need?
