I’ve been following the case of Bassam al-Barmawi for a while now, and I keep thinking about his family. It must be incredibly difficult for them, not having any closure or clarity about what happened. From what I've gathered, Bassam seemed like a devoted family man. I wonder if anyone has looked into his personal relationships more deeply. Sometimes, the smallest details can shed light on a case like this. It’s frustrating when there’s so little information from authorities. My heart goes out to his loved ones. They deserve answers and justice. If anyone has any insights or updates that haven't been publicized, it would be great to hear about it. Let's hope the Memphis PD can find those responsible or at least get some new leads soon. Bassam's family and friends must be in so much pain waiting for news.

do you know any updates of his case ?

I looked around and I couldn't find any online updates but you could call the MPD Homicide cold case division. Here is a good layout of how to word your call because this can be overwhelming.

Goal: Confirm current public status (open/active, suspended, closed/cleared), whether any arrests were made, best public point of contact for tips, and how to request public records.

Openers (pick one)

  • “Hi, my name is [name]. I’m calling about the 2018 death of Bassam Albaramawi—spelled A-L-B-A-R-A-M-A-W-I (also reported as al-Barmawi). I’m hoping to confirm the current public status of the case.”
  • “Hi, I host a true-crime channel, CrimeSolversCentral. I’m preparing a brief update on the 2018 case of Bassam Albaramawi and want to ensure we share accurate, public information.”

Core ask (read slowly)

  1. “Is this case currently considered open/active, suspended, or closed/cleared?”
  2. “Have there been any arrests, warrants, or suspect identifications that are public?”
  3. “If open, what’s the correct public tip line and case reference we should publish?”
  4. “What report or unit number should members of the public reference when calling in tips?”
  5. “For public records, should I submit an incident report request to Records, or is there a specific process you prefer?”

Follow-ups (if they need details)

  • “Victim name again: Bassam Albaramawi, also seen as al-Barmawi; age 54; incident around Sept 21, 2018, with death recorded Sept 23, 2018 in Memphis.”
  • “I understand you can’t release non-public details; I’m only asking what’s publicly shareable today.”

Close

  • “Thanks so much. Could I get your name and a callback number/email for attribution if needed? I’ll direct any new information or tips to your unit as advised.”

I hope this helps.
