I've been following the unsolved case of Demariae Coleman, who was tragically killed back in 2012. It's coming up on over a decade now, and his case still hasn't seen any resolution. It's devastating to think about his family having gone all these years without answers or justice. What stands out to me is Oakland's struggle during that time. The city was reeling from a surge in gun violence, and many cases like Demariae’s fell through the cracks. Why was witness cooperation so challenging? Were people scared, or was trust in the police just that low back then? It makes me wonder about what more could have been done, or could be done now, to build trust between the community and law enforcement. If anyone has any insights or remembers this case, let’s keep the conversation going. Maybe it’s not too late to shed some light or spark renewed interest in getting justice for Demariae and others caught up in that violent period.

Has anyone looked into the impact that Oakland's community outreach programs have had on unsolved cases like Demariae Coleman's? It’s tragic and frustrating to see families waiting for justice for so long. I’ve been following Oakland's efforts to counter gun violence, and while it seems there’s been some progress, I wonder if these programs are effectively reaching the right people who might have crucial information. It breaks my heart to think of Demariae’s family and how they must feel knowing his case is still unsolved after all these years. Maybe there’s more that can be done to encourage witnesses to come forward? I've read about other cities using creative solutions to address similar issues, and I hope Oakland can find ways to increase trust in the community. If anybody has insights or updates, especially on how these outreach initiatives are helping or can be improved, I'd love to hear more.
