Has anyone else looked into the background on the gate system at Vortex Spring? I've been diving a few times and know how crucial it is to have proper access and control in areas where safety is a concern. I read somewhere that Ben wasn't fully certified for the deep cave dive, so I'm curious how strict the enforcement of rules was there. Were there any logs or records of divers entering and exiting? Maybe a lapse in security monitoring contributed to this mystery somehow. If the gates were left unchecked or if people could bypass them without much scrutiny, it might explain how Ben could have gone undetected. Would love to hear thoughts from those familiar with diving protocols at locations like Vortex Spring.
Hey everyone, I've been following Ben McDaniel's case for a while, and I can't stop thinking about those unused decompression tanks they found. From what I understand, they were positioned near the entrance of the cave, which just seems odd to me. If Ben was planning a deep dive, why leave the tanks there? Was it possible he intended to return to that spot and something happened? Or could they have been a decoy? Some divers think maybe he left them as a marker or a signal, but I'm not convinced. It's just strange because those tanks were full, and experienced divers often plan meticulously.
Has anyone here ever heard of a case where a diver leaves full tanks behind intentionally? Or maybe divers here can chime in on what this could indicate? Any insights are welcome. This aspect has always caught my curiosity and seemed to be a piece of the puzzle that's not fitting in right.
