Hey everyone,

I've been thinking a lot about Neeley's case recently and wanted to throw something out there that I haven't seen discussed much in these threads. Does anyone else find it intriguing that he was so familiar with the area around Anderson? I mean, he spent his formative years in Alaska, and it’s such a rugged region to begin with, not for the fainthearted, right? It's interesting that despite his skills and familiarity, he still got lost. Any ideas on what might have gone wrong? Could the terrain have changed or maybe the weather was worse than reported? The whole thing is just a twist in Neeley’s story that’s hard to shake off. Would love to hear what others think.
Has anyone else looked into the geographical area where Neeley went missing? The Lost Slough area near the Nenana River seems like a tricky terrain, especially if you’re not familiar with it. I’m wondering if there are any local conditions or dangers that could have contributed to him getting lost? Maybe fast currents in the river or dense forests that could disorient someone, even someone familiar with the Alaskan wilderness? I can’t shake the thought that environmental factors could have played a big part here. Would love to hear more from locals or anyone who's hiked or explored that area.
