It's been over three decades since the loss of Steven Dolan, and I can't help but reflect on the ripple effects that his tragic death had on everyone around him. I didn't know Steven personally, but I've heard so many stories from those in Tinicum who did, and they paint a picture of a vibrant young man with so much potential. One aspect that really stands out to me is the community's response in the wake of his passing. In the midst of their grief, people came together to support Steven's family and to stand against the violence that took him from us. I’ve always thought that the way a community rallies in times of tragedy speaks volumes about its character, and Tinicum truly demonstrated resilience and compassion during those dark days. This tragedy has also been a driving force for many in the community to push for change. Whether it’s through local initiatives or simply keeping Steven’s memory alive, there seems to be a shared commitment to ensuring that his death was not in vain. It reminds all of us—the importance of supporting victims’ families and continuing to address the roots of violence to hopefully prevent future tragedies. I can't imagine the pain Steven's family must continue to endure, but it’s heartening to see how his life has inspired others to advocate for safety and unity. For those who knew him, and for those like me who didn’t, his legacy is a call to action. Let's keep the conversation going and work towards a safer world in Steven’s memory.
