I've been reading more about Thomas Lareef Burton Jr.'s tragic death, and I can't help but think about his little girl, Taniyah, who lost her dad in such a senseless way. Growing up without a father must have been incredibly tough, and I hope she had the support she needed from family and friends. It’s so frustrating that there are still so few answers about what happened to him. The fact that no suspects have been identified even after all these years is just a stark reminder of how often violence against young African American men goes unresolved. It’s like his case just slipped through the cracks, and that's so unfair to Thomas and his family. His siblings Tamir, Talir, Tahir, Rashidah, and Lateefah must also feel the weight of this loss every day, not only losing a brother but also grappling with the unanswered questions surrounding his death. My heart goes out to his family. I hope they find some peace and justice one day. We all need to keep discussing Thomas's case and others like it to demand the change and accountability that's long overdue.
