I wanted to share some thoughts about the response of the Amish community following the tragic events at West Nickel Mines. I found it incredibly moving how their immediate reaction wasn't anger or vengeance but rather forgiveness. The way they reached out to Charles Roberts' family, offering support and empathy, was something that really stood out to me. It’s not something you see every day, and it's a powerful testament to their faith and values. Being able to forgive in such circumstances is remarkable, especially when it involves the loss of young, innocent lives like Marian Fisher's. Marian showed such courage during those awful moments, and it speaks volumes that the community’s response focused on healing. In today's world, perhaps there's something we can all learn from their example. It makes me reflect on how important it is to hold onto compassion, even in the darkest times. Has anyone else been struck by this aspect of the story or have thoughts on the role of forgiveness in healing?

I just wanted to pop in here to talk about Marian Stoltzfus Fisher and the incredible bravery she showed during the Nickel Mines tragedy. It's hard to even imagine being in such a terrifying situation, let alone having the courage to ask the gunman to attack you first to protect others. I've read about her sister Barbie doing the same, and it's really touching to see such selflessness among such young girls. What's really struck me about this case is how the Amish community responded. Their emphasis on forgiveness, even for something so horrific, is something I think many of us can learn from. It's easy to get caught up in anger and grief, but their choice to focus on healing instead is truly remarkable. I hope Marian's family and the rest of the community find some peace through their strong faith and the support from all around. If anyone has more insights on how the community is doing today, I'd love to hear about it. Sending love and thoughts to everyone affected.
