I’ve been thinking a lot about Fabian Duque’s case lately, especially in the context of the larger issue of youth violence in Philly back in 2009. It’s so frustrating to know that his case remains unsolved, and I wonder if there was something more that could have been done at the time to bring justice for him and his family. It seems like there was a wave of violence impacting young people then, and Fabian became another statistic in such a tragic pattern. It's truly difficult to understand why some cases get closed without resolution. I’ve read about the struggles police face, like insufficient evidence and hesitant witnesses. But how do you even begin to heal as a family when the person responsible is never held accountable? My heart goes out to Fabian's family. I hope that with continued focus on community safety and engagement, fewer families have to experience this kind of unimaginable pain. Sometimes, I wonder if there were friends or neighbors who might have seen or heard something that night but were too scared to speak up. If anyone here has thoughts on how to encourage more people to come forward in such cases, I’d be really interested. We need to find ways to support each other in our communities to prevent these tragedies from happening again.
