I was reading about Kristopher Zitzewitz, and the discovery of remains believed to be his brings up more questions for me. Has anyone considered the possibility that the fissures and crevices in the Big Lava Beds concealed the remains for all these years? It’s haunting to think about how treacherous that area must be. After all, the initial search was massive, yet nothing was found back then. Would love to hear any thoughts or theories on how the landscape might have contributed to the extended search without results for so long.

Hey everyone, I came across an old map of the Big Lava Beds while doing some research and was struck by how challenging the terrain is. With all the fissures and crevices, it's no wonder the search for Kristopher Zitzewitz was so difficult. It's such a labyrinth out there, and with the intense weather back then, it's a miracle they even found anything now. Really makes me think about how intricate and unpredictable nature can be. Anyone else here familiar with the area? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these natural features might have affected the search efforts or any other missing persons cases you've followed.
