Has anyone else been struck by just how easily this tragedy could have been avoided? I keep coming back to the fact that this was supposed to be a birthday celebration—a time for joy, not devastation. When I read about Cody Gorsline's death, it makes me think about how important it is to raise awareness about gun safety, particularly in situations where people are gathering to have a good time and might let their guard down. Even if this was an accident, as the investigation suggests, it feels like a wake-up call to all of us about the responsibilities that come with owning and showing firearms. The prosecutor's decision on possible charges might hinge on pinpointing negligence, but it seems like there’s a bigger conversation here about educating gun owners and reinforcing the importance of proper handling. My heart goes out to Cody’s family and everyone who loved him. I can't imagine the pain they must be going through, and I hope they find peace amidst this tragedy.
