I’ve been following Sadeya Hall’s case closely, and something that keeps popping into my mind is the atmosphere we create in our communities. Sadeya was only 16, with so much life ahead of her, and she was senselessly taken away. I wonder about the environment in the neighborhood around the 500 block of Case Avenue East. Was there any history of violence or trouble in that area before this tragic day? The fact that two other teens were also injured makes me question whether there are unresolved issues within the community that might make young people vulnerable. It’s so important that we think about how we can create safer spaces for our kids, so none have to suffer the way Sadeya and her family have. My heart goes out to everyone who knew or loved her; please, if anyone knows something, step up and speak to the authorities. Let’s work collectively to ensure our children’s futures are protected.

I can't stop thinking about how brave Sadeya's family has been throughout this ordeal. Losing a child is one of the most unimaginable pains, but to have lost two...it's beyond comprehension. It just eats at me knowing that her vibrant life was cut short, and that there's been no justice served yet. I remember reading that she loved playing volleyball and was such a positive force on her team. It's so hard to wrap my head around the senselessness of this act. Her family has been through so much, and I hope every day that someone with knowledge comes forward. Justice for Sadeya would mean a lot, not only to bring peace to her loved ones but also to reassure the community that such tragedies won't go unpunished. Sending them strength and love.
