Hey everyone, I was reading about Megan Doto's tragic case, and something that's been on my mind is the role of the neighborhood in trying to prevent events like this from happening. It just breaks my heart to think about how Megan was simply watching over neighborhood kids, something so innocent and protective, and was caught in such a horrific situation. How do communities bounce back from this and work towards fostering a safer environment for everyone, especially children and expectant mothers? I wonder if there were any efforts by residents on Adams Avenue to create a stronger community presence or neighborhood watch after this happened. It seems like this could be a way to honor Megan's memory – by building a tighter-knit and vigilant community that looks out for one another. If anyone is from the area or knows about initiatives that were started in the wake of her passing, I'd love to hear more about it. We should all be taking steps, however small, to ensure that the streets we live in are safer for everyone. Hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight.
