I recently came across the case of William Walker, and it really drew my attention to how overwhelming the crime situation was in Detroit back in 2010. It's hard to imagine the frustration and sadness his family must feel knowing that there are still no answers. I read about how the Detroit Police Department was dealing with so many cases at the time, and it's apparent that low resources and a lack of witness cooperation made things incredibly tough for investigators.
It's good to know that there's a Cold Case Unit now that's working with advanced forensic technology. This gives a bit of hope that justice might still be served one day. But it seems like without tips from the public or new evidence, Walker's case—and cases like his—just linger painfully unresolved.
To anyone who might have been in that Chene Street area back then, even the smallest nugget of information could be crucial. I can’t imagine what the Walker family has been through, and I sincerely hope they get the closure they desperately need someday.
