Hey everyone,
I've been following the case of Shakene Owens, and something that's been on my mind is the emotional toll these endless unsolved cases must take on the families left behind. Imagine waiting day after day for any news or update and trying to hold on to hope that justice will be served.
I’ve read that Detroit has a Cold Case Unit which uses new forensic techniques. But I can’t help but wonder, how often do these techniques actually lead to breakthroughs? Are there other things, besides technology, that might motivate people who know something to finally come forward?
Living in a community with so much violence must feel incredibly isolating for those grieving. If we’re going to get any closer to solving cases like Shakene’s, perhaps we need more focus on not just technological advancements, but also community healing and creating safer spaces for people to speak up.
Does anyone know of successful initiatives in other cities that might be useful in Detroit? My thoughts are with Shakene’s family. She deserves justice, as do all the victims.
Stay safe, everyone.
Did anyone else attend the vigil held for Shakene Owens last week? I was struck by the overwhelming sense of community support and love for his family. It's so important that we come together to honor his memory and shed light on his case. The turnout was a powerful reminder that Shakene was more than just a statistic; he was a beloved son, friend, and a vibrant part of this community. It's deeply concerning that so many cases like his remain unsolved in Detroit. Why do you think it's taking so long to solve these cases, despite the efforts made by the Cold Case Unit? I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has suggestions on how we can better support the Owens family and raise more awareness to keep Shakene's story alive. We can't let his family continue without answers.
I’ve been following Shakene Owens’ case lately, and it's so frustrating to see how it just seems to be in a standstill with so little progress. Has anyone else noticed the lack of media attention on his case? It’s baffling, especially considering the number of unsolved murders in Detroit. Shakene was so young, only 20, and it's like he has become just another statistic in a city that’s overwhelmed with violence. I can’t even imagine the pain his family must feel, waiting and hoping for something—anything—that could lead to a break in the case.
I’ve been reading a bit about the Cold Case Unit and their work with Crime Stoppers. It’s encouraging to see those efforts, but it makes you wonder, what more can be done? If technology has advanced and we have these platforms now, why does it still seem like certain cases get overlooked? Maybe it's just about getting the right tip from someone who knows something.
If you’re in the Detroit area, even the smallest piece of information shared could make all the difference. Let’s not let Shakene’s case be forgotten. His family deserves answers just like anyone else. Is there anything more we, the community, can do to help get his story out there?
