I keep thinking about Caleb's friends at Stanwood Elementary. It's hard to imagine how they must have felt trying to understand what happened. I remember being in third grade, and it's such an age of innocence and fun. To see one of your classmates just disappear is unimaginable. I hope the school had counselors available to help the kids process this incredibly difficult situation. It also makes you wonder about the conversations parents had with their children afterward. How do you explain such a tragedy? I hope those families found ways to talk about mental health and safety. It’s so important that kids know they can talk to someone if they’re ever feeling overwhelmed or notice things that worry them about friends or siblings. My heart really goes out to everyone who knew Caleb and his family. It must have been such a difficult time for them.
