I’ve been following the case of Craig Henise’s murder and just read about how the family was affected during the trial, and it breaks my heart. Listening to his daughters express their loss is such a stark reminder of the ripple effects of violence. Losing a parent, especially in such a senseless way, must be unbelievably painful. I can't imagine having to speak about your loved one in court, knowing that no sentence can truly bring closure. It’s absolutely vital that communities come together to support victims’ families and consider what preventative measures could have been in place to keep such tragedies from occurring in the first place. My thoughts are with the Henise family as they continue to navigate this immense loss.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the events that led to Craig Henise’s tragic death. It’s tough to get my head around the fear and tension that must have happened in that alley. What struck me most during the court proceedings was the emotional testimony from Henise’s daughters. Their words were so raw and full of the kind of pain nobody should ever have to express publicly. It really brought home how crimes like this ripple out far beyond the people directly involved. It's so crucial for us as a community to rally around families and offer them whatever support we can. Also, it makes me wonder if there were opportunities missed where someone in Bernard Simmons’ life might have been able to guide him away from such a path. We really have to start looking at the bigger picture of what leads to these violent confrontations. Would love to hear others' thoughts on what could be done to prevent such tragedies in the future.
