I recently stumbled upon the case of Nancy Folcomer, and I can't get over how something so preventable led to such a devastating loss. One aspect that really stands out to me is the role of firearm education and safety—or the lack thereof—in this tragedy. It's a chilling reminder of how crucial it is to handle guns responsibly, not just for the owner, but for everyone around them. From what I’ve read, these two men were firing a 9 mm pistol with no consideration of their surroundings, ultimately ending in disaster. Was this a case of ignorance, or did they simply underestimate the power and range of the weapon? Either way, firearms should never be handled casually. I hope this case prompts more discussions around mandatory safety courses for gun owners, because clearly, something needs to change to prevent similar incidents in the future. My heart goes out to Nancy's friends and family. Losing a loved one in such an unexpected and senseless way is unimaginable, and I hope they find some semblance of peace as they move forward.
