I’ve been thinking a lot about Jonathan Gonzalez, the neighbor who tried to help Dion Walker after the tragedy. It’s such a tough situation; stepping in to help in those critical moments must have been incredibly difficult. It’s a reminder of the goodness that exists even in the worst circumstances. I can’t imagine the trauma he must be dealing with after witnessing such a horrific event, trying to save a life but ultimately dealing with the outcome. He’s shown such strength and kindness, stepping forward when so many might freeze in fear. His actions deservedly gained a lot of respect from the community, and I hope he’s receiving the support he needs. It’s a heavy burden to bear, knowing you’ve done all you could yet still carrying the weight of what happened. My thoughts are with him, as well as Dion’s family and loved ones.
