Pittsburgh's music scene lost a bright star with Jimmy Wopo's tragic death. One thing that seems to get lost in all the discussions around his case is the potential he had to not only make it big but also to bring further recognition to his hometown. His collaborations with artists like Wiz Khalifa were just the beginning. It's profoundly sad to think about all the music we won’t hear because his life was cut short. There was something raw and real about his sound, and it's a shame that the cycle of violence played a role in ending a promising career. My heart goes out to his family and friends who knew him beyond the headlines and music. They must be going through so much, and I hope they're finding some peace amidst all this. It would be incredible if his legacy could help shine a light on the need to address gang violence in communities to prevent others from experiencing this kind of loss.
