It's so difficult to hear about the circumstances of John Heggie's passing. Something that really sticks with me is how he was making positive changes in his life before this terrible incident. It’s such a tragic reminder of how unfairly life can put an end to someone's dreams and plans. He was working two jobs and seemed really focused on building a better future for himself. This just makes his loss feel even more profound because he clearly had a lot of potential, and he was appreciated by many people around him. The fact that he was shot at his friend Khalil Brown’s funeral—who himself had been killed just days earlier—is incredibly troubling. It feels like this cycle of violence needs to stop, but it keeps repeating itself. I hope that the investigators can find out who’s responsible and bring some semblance of peace to his family and friends. My heart goes out to his mother, Sharon King, and everyone who is missing John every day. I just wish there were more leads, more progress in cases like these, so the people left behind can start to heal.
