I've been following the case of Luis A. Perez, and one aspect that's been haunting me is how young Rahmir Hopkins was when this all happened. It's incredibly sad to think about how a life was lost and another was permanently altered so early on. What struck me most during the trial was learning about the circumstances that led Hopkins to possess a firearm at just 14. It's alarming how easy it is for minors to get their hands on guns and get caught up in such tragic situations. My heart goes out to Luis's family and friends who've had to endure such an unimaginable loss. I can't help but think about how many young lives are impacted by violence and how crucial it is to find support and positive paths for at-risk youth in our communities.
