I've been thinking a lot about the role of neighbors and community in cases like this. In the tragic case of Shakeeyah Jackson, it was a bullet passing through the wall that injured a neighbor. It makes you realize how the ripple effects of such violence can touch those who least expect it. Even though her injury wasn't life-threatening, I can't help but wonder about the emotional scars and the fear that comes with knowing how close they were to the violence. It's so important for communities to rally around not just the immediate family but everyone involved or affected. I saw that a GoFundMe page was established for Shakeeyah’s funeral expenses, which is heartwarming because it's a reminder of the good that can come from communities banding together. Let's also not forget those who edged closer to this tragedy and might need support in other ways. My thoughts are with everyone impacted by this heartbreaking event.
