I can't stop thinking about Kane Hines and how much he meant to those who knew him. It's so devastating to see someone so young and full of potential have their life cut short in such a senseless manner. I grew up not far from the Hill District, and seeing this kind of violence makes me feel both worried and sad for the community I love. Recently, I've been wondering if there might be more to explore regarding the ShotSpotter alerts that initially brought the police to the scene. I know it's a piece of tech used in the area, but how accurate is it, really? Are there times where it's helped to solve cases like this? It seems like there might be more answers hidden in those initial notifications than we realize. Anyway, just hoping Kane’s family finds some peace and justice as this investigation unfolds. My heart goes out to them and everyone else who's been impacted by the violence that's become all too common here.

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the ripple effect Kane's death has likely had on his friends and other young people in the Hill District. Losing a friend in such a violent way can be incredibly traumatic, and it’s something that many often struggle to fully process. I hope that Kane’s peers are able to find support during these incredibly tough times. Perhaps more community programs focused on mental health and peer support could be beneficial, not only for those directly affected by this tragedy but also as a way to foster healing and dialogue about preventing future violence. It’s important that our community rallies together—not just in calling for justice, but also in taking care of one another.
