It’s been over a decade since Deshaun Parks was taken from this world, and I still think about how young he was, with so much potential ahead of him. What really strikes me is how this tragedy reflects the broader struggles faced by Detroit during that era. The city was grappling with rampant crime, and Deshaun’s murder is just one piece of that grim puzzle. It's frustrating to see that his case hasn't been solved yet, despite Crime Stoppers' reward for information. I often wonder if someone out there knows something that could finally bring his family some peace. Sometimes, it feels like these crimes just slip away into statistics. Deshaun deserves more than that. I hope that with continued community engagement and support, we can someday see justice for him and others like him.
