It's been almost 30 years since Officer Chris Clites' tragic passing, and I've been reflecting on the sacrifices those in law enforcement make every day. I'm particularly struck by the immense bravery he showed in those last moments. Trying to stop fleeing suspects in such a dangerous situation is something most of us can hardly imagine doing. His partner must have faced unimaginable guilt and trauma that night - doing their best to help but witnessing the worst unfold. My heart truly goes out to them and the entire Columbus Division of Police for losing such a dedicated officer. Officer Clites' courage in the line of duty is a poignant reminder of the risks these officers take to keep our communities safe. I wish strength and peace to his family as they continue to keep his memory alive. It's crucial for us to remember heroes like him and support law enforcement in meaningful ways. Thoughts and prayers to everyone who was touched by this tragic event.
