I've been thinking a lot about the role of Marny's job as a fraud investigator and how that might've influenced her heightened awareness about protecting herself. It seems she was doing everything she could to shield her and her kids from Keith's threats, but the system failed her. It's incredibly distressing to think that someone with her background couldn’t secure the protective measures she desperately needed. Marny's expertise probably made her more vigilant, yet it also reflects just how challenging it is to obtain effective legal protections. This case really underscores how vital it is for systemic changes to ensure that restraining orders are enforced more rigorously and that individuals at risk can feel truly safe. I hope her story leads to some kind of reform, so that others don't face the same fate. My heart goes out to Mar'Kei and the rest of Marny's family — what a terrible loss.
