It’s devastating to think about how Ralph Henry Geiger, a man who was simply looking for an honest job, became entangled in such a sinister plot. What strikes me the most is how Ralph, described by everyone who knew him as caring and compassionate, was targeted by someone exploiting people’s inherent trust and vulnerability by offering hope through employment ads. Reading about the Craigslist murders brought back memories of how once, I almost responded to a similar job post. It’s a scary reminder of how careful we need to be. It’s important that we all continue raising awareness about the dangers of online job scams to honor Ralph and others who fell victim to Beasley’s deceit. My heart truly goes out to Ralph’s family and friends; I hope they find some comfort in the way the community rallies around them and holds Ralph in their hearts.
