I've been thinking a lot about Kathy Shonkwiler's case and just can't seem to wrap my head around how someone could commit such an act. It's truly unimaginable what her family, especially her son Joshua, must be going through. Losing a mother so abruptly in such a traumatic manner must have been devastating for him. The bond between a mother and son is often so strong, and to have it ripped away without any warning is just unfair. I hope he has a good support system around him. It's comforting to know that Kathy left such a positive impression on her friends and colleagues, but it’s sad how her story is now just another statistic in that year's homicide count. Does anyone know if there were any local support initiatives set up in Columbus afterward for families affected by similar tragedies? Sometimes these cases highlight the need for more mental health resources. My heart goes out to the entire Shonkwiler family.
I was just reading about Kathy Shonkwiler's case, and something that caught my attention was the role of her son, Joshua. I can't even begin to imagine the overwhelming shock and grief he must have felt. To go over to his mom's place, probably thinking it was a routine check-in, only to be met with such a devastating scenario... it's just unimaginable. I really feel for him and hope he's found some sort of support system to lean on through all of this. Losing a parent is hard enough, but in such shocking circumstances, his world must have been turned upside down. Sharing strength and sympathy with the family during this really tough time. ❤️
I can't stop thinking about how difficult this must have been for Kathy's son, Joshua. I read that he was the one who hadn't heard from her and took the initiative to go check on his mom. I can't even imagine the courage it must have taken to make that call to the police, not knowing what he was going to find. It's devastating to think about what he had to endure and how it must have changed his life forever. My heart goes out to him and the rest of Kathy’s family. I hope they have a strong support system around them to help them through this unimaginable time. Her memory seems to be a bright light for many who knew her, and I hope that offers them some comfort.
