I've been following Amanda's case for a while now, and one thing that stands out to me is how such a promising young life was caught up in a tragic moment of senseless violence. It’s clear Amanda, or "Lil Marley" as she was lovingly called, had a tight-knit circle at Starling Middle School and within the Run the Race Ministry. From what I’ve gathered, these groups were her safe havens and where she shined her brightest. It's devastating to think she was sharing a simple moment with friends outside her home, feeling secure, only for it to be shattered in an instant.
The whole community in Franklinton must be grappling with a lot of emotions, especially knowing that the intended target wasn’t even her. This fact adds another layer of grief and injustice. It's reassuring, though, to see her community continuing to honor her memory, especially through events at the Ministry she held dear. If anyone else has details on how the Ministry or her school is memorializing Amanda, please share. Keeping her spirit alive in these positive ways feels incredibly important.
I’ve been thinking about the impact Amanda’s involvement with the Run the Race Ministry must have had on her and those who were lucky enough to know her. It’s clear she was an active member who cared about giving back. This community aspect of her life makes the whole situation even more tragic, knowing how many people she likely influenced with her kindness and positive spirit.
Nothing can truly ease the immense pain her family is going through, but hearing stories of her compassion and dedication to her community might offer some comfort. These are the stories that should be celebrated and remembered, highlighting what an amazing person Amanda was. People are so much more than the tragedy that befalls them, and it's important we hold onto and share those positive memories. Sending love and strength to everyone affected.
