I've been following the case of Vernell Adams, and it's truly devastating to think about the circumstances that led to his untimely death. Harper Avenue, where Vernell was found, has such a reputation for violence, and it really highlights the struggles Detroit was facing back in 2011. It seems like the whole community was caught in this cycle of crime with little hope for improvement at the time. The city's resources were stretched so thin with the sheer number of homicides that occurred. I can't even begin to imagine the frustration Vernell's family must feel with this case being unsolved for so long. It must be agonizing not knowing what exactly happened to him or why. I've seen how hard the Cold Case Unit is working to finally get answers, and I sincerely hope they find the breakthrough they need. It would mean so much for Vernell's loved ones to get some form of justice. If anyone has new information, it's vital they come forward—each piece could be the key to solving this persistent mystery. Let's hope for a day when these families can finally have some closure.
