Does anyone else find it particularly upsetting that Kevin Neri's dreams were stolen from him? He was just on the brink of starting his journey towards becoming an engineer. I've been following this case from the sidelines, and every mention of his aspirations hits hard. That young man had so much to look forward to, and it truly feels like the world lost someone who could have contributed positively to society. The pain his mother must feel is unimaginable—no parent should ever have to bury their child, especially when they had such a promising future. I can't stop thinking about how different things might have been if there hadn't been that argument. Life can change in an instant, and unfortunately, Kevin's was cut short. My heart goes out to his family and all who knew him.

I’ve been thinking about the role that Kevin’s dreams and aspirations played in highlighting the sheer injustice of this tragedy. Everyone who knew Kevin describes him as a young man ready to chase his dreams with a passion for engineering. This isn’t just about the loss of a promising future engineer, but the personal loss to his family and friends who watched him grow and encouraged his ambitions. Imagining the pain of Kevin’s mom, having to endure such a monumental loss, resonates so deeply. It reminds us all that beyond statistics and headlines, there are real people with stories, dreams, and families left in the wake of violence. I genuinely hope this focus on who Kevin was helps bring attention to the personal stories that are often overshadowed by the courtroom drama.
