I’ve been following the discussions on Joshua Cohen’s case and wanted to bring up the issue of gun violence in Dayton. Knowing that Waymon Jones, Jr. had prior offenses and was still able to access a firearm is troubling. It highlights the need for stricter enforcement of gun laws and better support systems for those on probation. Cohen didn’t deserve to have his life tragically cut short over an argument. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly things can escalate when firearms are involved. My heart goes out to Josh’s family and friends as they continue to deal with the aftermath of this senseless crime. I hope this case serves as a wake-up call for the community to address these underlying issues and prevent future tragedies.

I’ve been following Joshua Cohen's case and just can’t shake off the fact that this tragedy felt so preventable. From what I’ve read, Waymon Jones had a pretty consistent history with the law. It's frustrating to see how someone with previous offenses was in a position to cause such heart-wrenching harm. I know hindsight is 20/20, but you have to wonder—could there have been a stronger system in place to prevent him from having access to firearms, given his past? It’s a tough reality to face, especially for Joshua's family, who must feel this loss deeply. Sending thoughts to everyone affected by this. No family should have to go through this.

I was reading through some older threads about the Joshua Cohen case, and something that struck me was the community's response following his tragic death. It seems like Dayton really came together to honor his memory. I came across several mentions of a vigil held on Leland Avenue shortly after the incident. Friends, family, and even people who didn't know Joshua personally showed up to support his loved ones. They shared stories, lit candles, and created a beautiful memorial space with flowers and notes. To me, this shows the deep impact that Joshua had on those around him, and it’s a testament to the close-knit community in Dayton. I can only imagine the strength it took for his family to face this with such grace and openness. It’s a sad reminder that when senseless violence occurs, it ripples through families and neighborhoods, affecting lives in ways we sometimes can’t even measure. Sending so much love to them and everyone who cared for him.
