I wanted to discuss something that’s been on my mind lately concerning Journi Joy Renee Johnson’s tragic case. Has anyone else been thinking about how crucial community involvement can be in preventing such horrific incidents? It’s just too painful to fathom how a beautiful child like Journi could suffer so immensely without friends, neighbors, or extended family noticing something was wrong. I feel that her death should motivate us all to be more observant and willing to speak up if something doesn't feel right. Even if it’s uncomfortable or intimidating, reaching out or reporting suspicions can potentially save a life. It's incredibly tough for us to think about, but maybe by increasing awareness and education around warning signs of child abuse, we can work towards a safer environment for our community’s children. Keeping a little angel like Journi in our thoughts, let’s hope for a future where we are all more vigilant in protecting our children.
