I recently came across a report about the gas station where William Henderson was killed, and it got me thinking about the security measures in place at these places we frequent. It's terrifying to consider that a simple stop for gas can turn deadly so swiftly. I know the community and especially his loved ones, Danielle and his boys, must be reeling from this. I've read that there were concerns about poor lighting and lack of security cameras in many such stations around East 89th Street. It makes you wonder if more proactive measures could have deterred crimes like this. While we can't bring William back, I hope this tragedy sparks more conversations and actions around improving safety standards at these public places. It's painful enough for his family to face this loss, and ensuring other families don't go through the same might be some small bit of justice in the long run. I feel for all those who knew and loved him.
